Lobster Rumble 2015!

Happenings / August 11, 2015

This coming Wednesday, Los Angeles Center Studios will be home to Tasting Table’s Lobster Rumble. For those of us who have never seen those two words in the same sentence, we talked with the event organizers and they gave us the scoop.

Last year’s event was a sold-out success, so we expect this year’s Lobster Rumble to be even more claw some than ever!

Q: For someone who has never heard of or attended the Lobster Rumble, in one sentence, what they can expect?

The Lobster Rumble is Tasting Table’s epic lobster competition event among the country’s very top 15 lobster roll makers, with one crowned as Fan Favorite at the end of the night.

Q: Is anything different happening this year as opposed to previous years?

This year we’re hosting the event at a new outdoor venue, LA Center Studios. The open-air layout is going to allow for more seating, plus eating lobster under the stars sounds pretty good to us.

Q: How does one prepare for their first Lobster Rumble?

Eat a light lunch, put on your best Nantucket reds, and get ready for a clawesome night!

Q: We all know that the Northeast, specifically Maine is the traditional home of lobster and the lobster roll. Why should people expect top quality across the country in Los Angeles?

Lobster rolls have really become a national obsession — even on the West Coast — so what was once a regional specialty has become an iconic dish nationwide. Our incredible line-up of contenders this year are traveling from around the country to compete in LA, and they’re all bringing in top-quality Maine lobster (even if it means flying it in overnight!)

Q: What makes your partnership with No Kid Hungry – Share Our Strength so special?

We have partnered with Share Our Strength for over five years, and we are proud to donate 10% of ticket sales to their efforts to end childhood hunger in America.

Q: Can you give us a sneak peek into the sweet treats that will be available on site?

We will be featuring ice cream from Peddler’s Creamery, cupcakes from Sprinkles Bakery, cookie ice cream sandwiches from Drive Me Cookie, gourmet Brigadeiros from Simply Brigadeiro and sweets from Creme Caramel LA and Quenelle Bakery.

Q: What does a ticket to this event get the attendee?

A General Admission ticket ($100 plus tax) grants you entry to the Rumble event from 7 to 10 p.m. plus 15 lobster roll stations and chips from Food Should Taste Good, plus desserts from 6 favorite local favorite purveyors, and unlimited open bars pouring Stella Artois beer, cocktails, Charles Krug and Divining Rod wines and Coca-Cola Life.

A VIP pass ($150 plus tax) includes all the General Admission benefits plus early access from 6 to 7pm and exclusive entry to the VIP Lounge featuring a raw bar from Tipple & Brine.

Q: Can one person really try all 15 rolls without getting sick of lobster?

We recommend that our guests pace themselves, but it is absolutely possible and has been done before!
