2019/2020 Holiday Events

Uncategorized / December 30, 2019

Staying in town for the holidays this year? Take full advantage of the considerably less traffic and check out holiday decor without the snowy backdrop? There are plenty of events around Los Angeles to keep you in the holiday spirit and feeling festive all week long.

Here are a few highlights:

If you’d like to satisfy all your Season’s Greetings with a light show, you have more than one option.

The LA Zoo celebrates its 5th year and boasts the largest illuminated pop-up storybook, a magical disco ball forest, giant glittering snowflakes, and a twinkling tunnel with dynamic swirls of color. Over at Descanso Gardens, their annual Enchanted Forest of Light is an interactive mile walk through some of the most beloved areas of the historic property. And at the Arboretum, there’s Moonlight Forest, where colorful designs of animals, plants, and Chinese culture come to life in the form of ancient Chinese lantern art.

Feeling left out in the cold because your holidays don’t feel like they take place in a climate you recognize from your favorite childhood story? Then head to Pershing Square for your own very slice of a winter wonderland in the heart of downtown. Their outdoor ice skating rink is open daily through January 20th and you can lace up your own skates or rent a pair for as low as $5.

And as the week moves from reindeer to ringing in the new year, you can count on DTLA for some of the coolest NYE celebrations.

If you are in the mood for a communal countdown then N.Y.E. L.A might be for you. Located at Grand Park, there’s DJ sets, installations, food trucks and a midnight countdown projected onto City Hall. Or maybe you want to head over to Union Station and travel back to the 1920s for a Prohibition-era themed party. There will be live jazz, burlesque dancers, custom cocktails and they will be dropping a 60ft ball when the clock strikes midnight. And then there’s Gilded, hosted at The Theatre at Ace Hotel. This gala offers a dinner package, as well as a VIP Bar section, or you could just hit the floor underneath the giant disco ball and dance the night away as House, Funk, and Soul DJ’s curate the soundscape.

How will you fill your calendar this holiday season? And if you’re looking for an event space for NYE 2020, please consider the LACS studios and campus.
